Yessica Lawson, LCSW, serves as the lead counselor at Avenues Recovery Center at South Bend. Originally from Mexico, she has been a resident of the Michiana area for over 25 years. She is a proud alumna of Indiana University, and holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work, with a focus on Mental Health and Addictions. Yessica is a dedicated lifelong learner, continually seeking to deepen her knowledge of mental health, addiction, and the brain’s response to recovery.
Yessica's passion for helping others drew her into the field of social work, and as a Latina, bilingual, and a person of color, much of her professional career has been focused on supporting minority communities. The impact of addiction within these communities—and its effects on families—shaped her commitment to aiding those who struggle with substance use and providing support to their loved ones through the journey of recovery.
Outside of her work, Yessica enjoys a variety of activities, from reading and gardening to playing games with her three children, aged 15, 10, and 5. Her family also includes their playful Westie, Loki, and they often open their home to foster children. When time allows, they love to travel together, with Disney World being a favorite destination.
Yessica is honored to walk alongside individuals and families as they navigate the journey of healing and recovery, committed to building a brighter future together.
