AVENUES DUAL DIAGNOSIS TREATMENT CENTERS

Helping you heal from the inside out.

Get to the root of your addiction in a safe, supportive environment, so you can heal from within and stay sober for good.

What is dual-diagnosis treatment?

So often, substance abuse comes along with a range of mental health disorders. They may have been caused by the addiction, or they may have been the cause of the addiction – but the important point is that without addressing them, the addiction won’t go away. Treating an addiction without touching on the mental health disorders that fester beneath is like slapping a band-aid on a wound that needs stitches.

That’s why Avenues created their dual diagnosis treatment program. It’s an evidence-based, clinically-proven curriculum that helps people like you identify, target, and treat the root causes of their addictions – with astounding results, time and again. Guided by skilled therapists and facilitators, you’ll embark on a journey of self-discovery that’s intense, enlightening, and incredibly rewarding.

You may need dual diagnosis treatment if...

You use substances as a way to cope with stress, depression, or anxiety

You have frequent mood swings, with extreme highs and lows

You have strong feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or anger

You’ve experienced severe stress or panic attacks

You’ve had thoughts of self-harm or suicide

You have trouble keeping relationships, jobs, or responsibilities

Avenues is a wonderful place for anyone looking to 'take a timeout' from life and focus on their recovery. I have learned so much from this program during my 30 days here. The staff is compassionate, the curriculum is effective, and they really DO care!! Thank you Avenues, I'll see you all soon! 🥰

Avenues Recovery was not just a first step back into recovery for me, but a monumental leap towards healing and wholeness. Their comprehensive approach towards mental health was the single most difficult process I have undertaken thus far, which means it worked.

This place has been a life changing experience for my son. We have been through a few centers and this one is hands down the best one ever. The transformation I have seen in my son brings nothing but tears of joy and hope to my heart. I will always recommend this center to anyone that needs and wants help. It has forever changed his life. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Avenues has been life-changing! The staff and counselors are so knowledgeable and welcoming. They taught me so much about my addiction and met me with so much love and acceptance. Most of the techs are in the recovery community and really showed us understanding and what sobriety can truly be. I'm so excited for the next phase in my journey, knowing I have this amazing group of people in my corner! I love you all and am immensely grateful for everything you do. 💜

I can’t express enough how much of an impact this place has had on my life. Not only am I happily sober, but I am incredibly excited to live through my potential. That is a sentence I would have been unable to say any other point in my life. There are so many external gifts I have been loaned, and so many internal tools that I use daily to stay peaceful and feel fulfilled. I am proud of my choices and the path I have decided to take. All the staff… treated me with the respect and compassion that someone with this disease needs. I could write a novel about this place, so I’ll stop there but if you are looking for somewhere to rebuild your life and find who your authentic self is, this is the place. Much love.

My experience at Avenues has enabled me to take back and reshape my life. The staff and therapists, as well as my peers, provided me with the safety, security, and support that I needed to make in order to overcome various difficult transitions in my life. I am happy to say that at the conclusion of my experience at Avenues, I now have the strength, tools, and the ability to see an attainable new future for myself. Avenues gave me the guidance I needed to structure that future before I completed my treatment there and I am forever grateful!

I cannot recommend Avenues strongly enough- I have recently left and can honestly say it was a transformative experience. What was important for me was that this program gave me the space I needed to find my own way while also providing the structure and program that I needed. The provided the suggestion and recommendation of the program of AA but did not force it. They met clients where they were at. The clinical staff at avenues I cannot rave about enough- they really go above and beyond to connect with their clients and the clients who are not theirs, know how to run effective groups and know what they are talking about. Even the higher up's get to know the clients and want to make a difference in people's recovery… They want for you to succeed at every step and will go above and beyond to ensure that you do.

You probably
have questions,
like:

What does a “dual diagnosis” program mean?

A “dual diagnosis” program refers to a treatment program that is designed to treat both a substance abuse disorder and other mental health disorders at the same time. This allows the client to address all aspects of their mental and emotional health and heal on a deep and permanent level.

Can I get residential diagnosis treatment while in inpatient rehab?

Yes, many inpatient addiction rehabs offer residential dual diagnosis treatment. This means that while attending inpatient rehab for addiction, you can also receive professional therapy targeting any mental health condition(s) you might be dealing with.

What is the best type of dual diagnosis treatment?

The ideal dual diagnosis treatment is therapy that is administered by a trained dual diagnosis therapist and guided by a custom care plan. To achieve this, the therapist will conduct a thorough biopsychosocial evaluation to learn the client’s full mental health history, and will then create a custom  treatment plan to meet their needs.

What are some examples of dual diagnoses?

A dual diagnosis refers to when a substance use disorder and one or more mental health disorders exist together. Some common examples would be drug and/or alcohol addiction together with anxiety, addiction with depression, addiction with schizophrenia, addiction with ADHD, addiction with trauma or PTSD, and addiction with psychosis.

Many times, an individual struggling with addiction may suffer from more than one mental health condition at once.

What is the difference between dual diagnosis and co-occurring disorders?

Dual diagnosis and co-occurring disorders essentially mean the same thing. They both refer to when an individual suffers from a substance use disorder as well as another mental health disorder (or more)  at the same time.

What are some signs that a person needs dual diagnosis rehab?

Common signs that a person needs dual diagnosis treatment include:

  • Using substances as a way to cope with stress, depression, or anxiety
  • Frequent mood swings, with extreme highs and lows
  • Strong feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or anger
  • Experiencing severe stress or panic attacks
  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
  • Trouble keeping relationships, jobs, or responsibilities
