Avenues Recovery Center held a ribbon cutting at its new facility in Mishawaka on Wednesday, January 8th, 2024, and was visited by local South Bend news station WNDU. WNDU news anchor Emma Bratt provided live coverage of the well-attended event.

Avenues Recovery Center at South Bend is the fourth Indiana location in the Avenues nationwide network, housing and providing treatment services for individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

The new recovery center in Mishawaka had a soft opening in November, and has been accepting a small number of clients ever since. This slow and eventual census growth is being implemented to ensure the staff are well-trained and supported and clients are being kept safe.

At capacity, the building will be able to hold up to 120 clients.

“To see this today, and really the support of the community for such a place, it’s overwhelming. It’s an overwhelming thing,” shared Joe Wainhaus, the executive director. “It’s an amazing thing coming to reality, and we’re just so excited to get started fully and to fully open our doors.”

Avenues Recovery Center at Mishawaka, which is located at 60205 Bodnar Boulevard in South Bend, is the 17th Avenues facility nationwide.
