Two men were arrested after a high-speed police chase spanning from Orange County, Texas, to Sulphur, Louisiana, led to the discovery of drugs and firearms. The pursuit, which began on the evening of January 21, 2025, around 10:10 p.m., started when an Orange County trooper attempted to pull over a Dodge Charger Hellcat on Interstate 10 near Farm Road 1135.

The Beaumont Enterprise reported that instead of stopping, the 29-year-old driver, a man from New York, slowed down briefly before accelerating away from the officer, triggering a pursuit. The chase continued into Louisiana, where the suspect was eventually stopped by a tire deflation device deployed by Louisiana State Police in Sulphur.

During the stop, authorities discovered approximately 41 pounds of marijuana, 1.3 ounces of cocaine, and a stolen AK-47 style pistol in the vehicle. The driver, a 32-year-old Louisiana man, was taken into custody after attempting to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly after. Both men are facing multiple felony charges related to the drugs and weapon found in the vehicle, including charges in Texas.

The incident underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in both Texas and Louisiana to combat the illegal trafficking of drugs and firearms. The Texas Department of Public Safety is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case, and both suspects are expected to face additional charges as the investigation progresses.

This bust is just one example of the growing problem of drug trafficking and illegal firearms in the region, and authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to combat these crimes. The successful end to this chase highlights the coordinated efforts between local, state, and federal agencies in keeping communities safe from the dangers of illegal drugs and weapons.
