Authorities in Pennsylvania made a significant drug bust on March 13, 2025, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of over one kilogram of crack cocaine. The operation, which was part of an ongoing drug investigation, took place after a vehicle stop in Blair County. The suspect, Quida Mertens, 53, was taken into custody, and investigators proceeded to execute search warrants at two locations: one in the 300 block of W. 15th Street, Tyrone, and another in the 1000 block of E. Atlantic Avenue, Altoona.
During the searches, authorities recovered a total of 1 kilogram of crack cocaine, valued at $72,000, along with 91 grams of cocaine, worth approximately $9,100. This seizure is one of the largest crack cocaine busts in the Blair County region in recent years, according to the Attorney General's Office. The scale of the operation and the drugs seized highlights the growing concern over drug trafficking in the area.
According to WTAJ news, Mertens was arraigned on felony charges, including possession with intent to deliver, and related drug charges. Bail was set at $200,000, and she now faces serious legal consequences for her involvement in the distribution of illegal substances.
This bust comes as part of the continued efforts by local and state authorities to combat the spread of drugs throughout Pennsylvania, particularly in regions like Blair County, where such seizures have become a critical part of efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks. The authorities' work in this case demonstrates their commitment to keeping communities safe and targeting those involved in the illegal drug trade.
