Avenues Recovery, an addiction rehab in Indiana, would like to spread the word that as part of Suicide Prevention Month this September, a Zionsville family is set to host the second annual Music2Heal concert, an event dedicated to raising awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. Randy and Angie Eugenio, residents of Zionsville, are passionate advocates for mental wellness following the tragic loss of their 19-year-old son, Tate, to suicide in November 2021.
Inspired by Tate's love for music, the inaugural Music2Heal concert took place last year and featured over 40 local artists performing to a crowd of nearly 1,000 attendees. The event was a resounding success, raising more than $15,000 for community mental health organizations, a testament to the power of music and community in healing.
The WISHTV news site reported that this year's concert is scheduled for Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Zionsville’s STAR Bank Performing Arts Center. Local favorite band Six Foot Blonde will headline the concert, joined by several other acts, many of whom had the opportunity to perform alongside Tate during his life.
Proceeds from the 2024 event will benefit several mental health initiatives, including the Zionsville Alliance for Mental Wellness, the Tate Eugenio Memorial Fund through the Community Foundation of Boone County, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the American Society for Suicide Prevention. In addition to the concert, attendees are invited to a pre-show open house starting at 6:00 p.m., where representatives from these organizations will provide valuable information and resources, along with light refreshments.
Angie Eugenio expressed her gratitude for the performers and the community’s support, stating, “Music2Heal would not be possible without the eagerness of performers to participate. I am so grateful to everyone who has come together to make this event happen and to help encourage people to discuss mental health and suicide. This year, we’re focusing on not only healing but also fostering more outreach and connection to resources.”
The Eugenio family hopes to honor Tate’s memory through Music2Heal, making it a cornerstone event in their community’s ongoing efforts to prevent suicide and promote mental health awareness. As they continue to expand the conversation around these critical issues, the event serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of connection, support, and understanding in the fight against mental health challenges.
