A 25-year-old Metairie man, Alberto Barrios-Ramirez, was arrested in Boutte, Louisiana, following a drug bust on Sunday, December 29, 2024. The arrest occurred after deputies with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Old Spanish Trail for a violation. What began as a routine stop quickly escalated when deputies noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside Barrios-Ramirez's vehicle.
After obtaining probable cause, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. The WGNO news site reported that during the search, the deputies discovered a significant quantity of illegal substances, including 177 grams of marijuana, 28.8 grams of cocaine, and seven types of unknown pills. The discovery led to Barrios-Ramirez's immediate arrest.
Barrios-Ramirez now faces several serious charges, including possession with intent to distribute both marijuana and cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and various traffic-related offenses. Authorities are working to determine the exact nature of the unidentified pills.
