Access to crucial community support services has become easier for Frederick County, Maryland, residents thanks to a new online resource database launched by the Mental Health Association (MHA) of Frederick County. Announced on November 1, 2024, this digital platform provides comprehensive information on local health and human services, making it accessible anytime, anywhere.

DC News Now reported that the new database is an evolution of a physical guide that the MHA distributed across the county before the pandemic. This printed newsletter acted as a lifeline for community members and service providers, offering a detailed list of available local services. Now, in an online format, these resources are more accessible than ever, recognizing the need for flexible, remote access in today's world.

"We know that a lot of service providers in our community and people who are out and about working with people in the community relied on having that published guide," said Suzi Borg, the MHA’s Director of Crisis Services. "We’re really hoping that they’ll find the same use with this.” By moving online, the MHA aims to reach even more of the county's diverse population, including families, the elderly, those experiencing homelessness, and people seeking mental health support.

The database features 22 essential service categories, creating a one-stop hub for residents in search of assistance. Categories include housing support, health care, financial aid, food assistance, and more. Each entry offers contact information, operating hours, and service details, providing a straightforward way for people to connect with the help they need. For both residents and human service professionals, this comprehensive digital tool is designed to streamline the process of finding and referring essential services.

This launch comes at a time when the need for mental health and social services has only grown, and it aligns with a larger effort to make such resources easily accessible to all. The MHA hopes this online platform will empower Frederick County residents by giving them a direct line to information and support, building a stronger, healthier, and more resilient community for all.

Frederick County residents can now access the database on the MHA’s website, a crucial step forward in connecting people with vital services and resources across Maryland.
