In the early hours of January 2, 2025, a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected illegal drugs and weapons in Worcester County, Maryland. The incident involved 39-year-old Maria Milagros Garcia from Greenwood, Delaware, who was arrested after Maryland State Police uncovered cocaine, heroin, and a taser during a search of her vehicle.

According to the Talk Of Delmarva news, the traffic stop took place just before 12:30 a.m. on U.S. Route 113 at the intersection with Maryland Route 90. A trooper from the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack pulled over a Kia passenger vehicle for speeding. While interacting with Garcia, the trooper learned she had an outstanding warrant in Delaware. This prompted her immediate arrest.

During the stop, police also discovered what they suspect to be cocaine and heroin in Garcia’s possession, along with a taser. The discovery added to her charges, which include six counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and the concealment of a dangerous weapon, in addition to traffic-related offenses.

After her arrest, Garcia was transported to the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack for processing. She was later seen by a district court commissioner. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and additional details may be released as it develops.

This arrest highlights the diligence of the Maryland State Police in identifying criminal activity during routine traffic stops. Garcia’s charges are a reminder of the ongoing efforts to keep dangerous drugs off the streets and to address the risks posed by concealed weapons.
