In Shreveport, Louisiana, a grassroots organization is extending a hand to those impacted by suicide, offering a space for healing and connection. The Out of the Darkness Walk, led by Meghan Goldbeck and PACE, invites friends and families who have lost a loved one to suicide to come together in support and solidarity. The event aims to foster a sense of community while honoring the memory of those lost.

The 6 KTAL news site reported that participants can list the names of their loved ones on the Northwest Louisiana Walk legacy list. During the opening ceremony, the names will be read aloud, creating a poignant moment of remembrance and connection with others walking the same path of grief.

The walk will take place on October 12th at Betty Virginia Park in Shreveport, a serene setting for reflection and unity. Registration starts at 9 a.m., and everyone is encouraged to join in to share their stories, offer support, and contribute to the collective effort to prevent future suicides.

The Louisiana Chapter behind this event is committed to reducing the loss of life from suicide through educational programs, awareness campaigns, and support for those grieving. The walk serves as a powerful reminder that no one has to face these struggles alone, and help is always available.

For those in crisis, the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is reachable by calling or texting 988, and the Crisis Text Line is available by texting TALK to 741-741.
