One of the most poignant tributes to the lives lost to drug overdose is the DEA's "Faces of Fentanyl" exhibit. This initiative honors the many lives lost to fentanyl drug overdose. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. Illegal fentanyl has been a major driver of the current opioid epidemic, contributing to a significant increase in overdose deaths in recent years.

The "Faces of Fentanyl" exhibit is housed in the DEA Museum in Arlington, Virginia, and features photos and stories of countless individuals who have died from fentanyl overdoses. It serves as a stark and powerful reminder of the tragic human cost of the opioid epidemic and the urgent need for action to combat it. The exhibit also provides a platform for families to share their loved ones' stories, helping to put a human face to the statistics and emphasizing that each number represents a real and beloved person whose life was cut short.

The “Faces of Fentanyl” exhibit is a sobering reflection of the impact of fentanyl and other opioids on communities across the nation. By bringing these stories to the forefront, the DEA aims to raise awareness about the grave dangers of fentanyl, and the importance of widespread education and prevention efforts in addition to addiction treatment.
