In a significant drug bust, 42-year-old Carlos Antonio Gonzalez-Del Hoyo was arrested in Greeley, Colorado, after police uncovered a large quantity of illegal drugs in his vehicle. The arrest comes after months of investigation by the Weld County Drug Task Force, who began tracking Gonzalez-Del Hoyo in September. Authorities had identified him as a key figure in selling large amounts of illicit narcotics throughout Weld County and the surrounding region.
According to Fox news, on December 19, the Greeley Police Department’s SWAT team located Gonzalez-Del Hoyo as he drove near the 4700 block of Highway 34. The team, with assistance from a police officer and K-9 unit Ory, conducted a search of the vehicle after the canine alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. Inside, they found approximately 6,000 counterfeit M-30 pills, which are suspected to contain fentanyl, a powerful and highly dangerous opioid. Alongside the pills, authorities discovered 11 pounds of methamphetamine.
Fentanyl, especially in counterfeit pill form, has become a major concern for law enforcement across the United States, with many accidental overdose deaths linked to its illicit use. The combination of these counterfeit pills and the methamphetamine seized is a testament to the scale of the drug trafficking operations in the area. While the specific narcotic-related charges against Gonzalez-Del Hoyo have not been disclosed, the sheer volume of drugs found in his possession indicates serious criminal activity.
Following his arrest, Gonzalez-Del Hoyo was booked into the Weld County Jail. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are encouraging anyone with information about the case to come forward. Commander Scott Smith of the Greeley Police Department can be reached at 970-351-5211 for tips or further details.
This bust highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to combat the growing problem of drug trafficking in the region. As the investigation unfolds, officials are determined to hold those responsible for the spread of these dangerous substances accountable.
