Avenues Recovery Celebrates National Recovery Month

Written by Sharon Farntrog | Sep 5, 2024 3:48:58 PM

September is here, and that means National Recovery Month!

Here at Avenues, we’re going all out! Our halls are decked in purple and we’re proving to the world that recovery is REAL. Our facilities are running exciting activities and events this month - in memory of the lives lost to addiction, in celebration of the strong souls that are now sober, and in support of increased awareness and treatment access for those still suffering.

Check out what what’s going on in Avenues facilities across the country!

Prince Frederick, Maryland

Clients at Avenues Prince Frederick were encouraged to write the names of loved ones and friends lost to overdose on purple hearts, and stick them on the memorial bulletin board that was put up.

Covington, Louisiana

Staff at Avenues Covington got on their purple T-shirts and garb, and everyone shared encouraging messages and names of loved ones lost on a massive purple banner.

Townsend, Louisiana

Townsend Recovery Center staff rocked their “Recovery is Real – I’ve Seen Proof” T-shirts, and we hope they keep wearing them all month long!

Dublin, New Hampshire

Dublin staff and clients pinned up purple remembrance ribbons with names of those deceased, to honor the memories of lives lost to overdose.

Avenues Dublin alumni led the recovery community through downtown Nashua in a walk honoring Overdose Awareness Day and National Recovery Month. They were decked out in purple, and spread the message of recovery throughout the city!

Eastern Shore, Maryland

Staff and clients at Avenues Eastern Shore decorated paper bags with inspirational messages and the names of loved ones and friends lost to overdose, and lit candles inside each, creating beautiful paper lanterns. They were set at the base of a “memorial tree” outside.

A staff member decorated the tree in the lobby in purple, in honor of the month!

Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania

Avenues Lake Ariel clients dedicated a group session to discussing Overdose Awareness. They split into two groups – guys against girls – and held a fun poster-decorating competition!
