In a significant operation, eight individuals were arrested in January 2025 following a major drug trafficking bust in northern Colorado and Wyoming. The arrests were the culmination of an extensive investigation by the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force, which uncovered a dangerous network distributing drugs like fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and oxycodone.

According to KDVR news, the investigation, known as "Operation King Friday," began in April 2024, when authorities received tips about a drug trafficking operation led by Curtis Rogers, a 47-year-old from Johnstown, Colorado. Rogers was identified as a key distributor in the region, and further investigation revealed that his operation had connections to a larger international drug network based in Mexico.

By late 2024, the task force executed multiple search warrants across northern Colorado, leading to the seizure of significant quantities of illegal substances. Among the items recovered were 3.6 pounds of methamphetamine, over 5,300 fentanyl pills, 13 firearms—some exchanged for narcotics—and nearly $14,000 in cash. These drugs, particularly fentanyl, present an extreme risk to public health, with the potential for fatal overdoses in even small amounts.

The eight suspects arrested in connection with the operation are facing a range of drug-related charges. These individuals, who hail from cities across northern Colorado such as Loveland, Fort Collins, Greeley, and Brush, were all involved in the distribution of narcotics that have wreaked havoc in the region. While the investigation has resulted in significant arrests, authorities say the operation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected as they continue to dismantle the criminal network.

Lt. Mark Hertz, the commander of the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force, spoke to the broader impact of drug trafficking on local communities. He noted that the harm caused by substances like fentanyl extends far beyond the individual user, affecting families, neighborhoods, and public safety. "Every pill we get off our streets can mean the difference between life and death," Hertz remarked.

As authorities continue their efforts to combat drug trafficking in northern Colorado, they remain focused on removing dangerous substances from the streets and holding those responsible accountable for their actions. With more arrests anticipated, the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force is committed to ensuring that these criminal operations are stopped, protecting communities from the destructive influence of illegal drugs.
