The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office (TPSO) made significant progress in cracking down on a local drug operation, resulting in the arrest of five individuals linked to the distribution of illegal substances in Hammond and Tickfaw. The operation, which involved the alleged distribution of methamphetamine, Mojo, and cocaine, came to a head on March 14, 2025, when authorities executed search warrants and arrested several suspects.

WAFB news reported that earlier in the month, deputies began investigating a suspected drug ring operating primarily in two areas: Whiskey Lane in Tickfaw and Mitchell Drive in Hammond. The investigation led to the seizure of significant quantities of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine, Mojo, and cocaine, as well as weapons.

Among those arrested was Alvin Cotton, 48, who faces charges for possession with intent to distribute a variety of drugs, including marijuana, methamphetamines, and heroin, along with possession of a firearm and drug paraphernalia. Kimberly Lizana, 50, was booked for possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Additionally, three other individuals, Hayes Cotton, 64, Doniel Gooden, 46, and Rene Alvarado, 43, were taken into custody on existing warrants related to drug activity.

Sheriff Gerald Sticker emphasized the importance of teamwork between the Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office and local, state, and federal agencies in tackling criminal activity, noting that crime doesn’t recognize jurisdictional boundaries. He stated, “We will continue to work in partnership with the Hammond Police Department and other local, state, and federal agencies to investigate illegal activity no matter where it’s located in our parish.”

While the investigation remains ongoing, authorities anticipate more arrests in the near future as they continue to uncover more details of the drug operation. This successful bust highlights the persistent efforts by law enforcement to combat illegal drug activity in Tangipahoa Parish and underscores the importance of collaboration between agencies to ensure public safety.
